Clients in this market have experienced significant growth in recent years. Hospitals, assisted living and teaching facilities have driven much of this growth. We have found that clients in this sector are often asked to have executive responsibility over the capital development function even though they may not have adequate management tools to gather the mission critical information necessary to make sound decisions on capital programs. We have also found that these types of facilities incorporate very complex mechanical systems which are often custom produced for a specific use. Together, we are working with clients in this sector to:
- Implement key performance indicator reporting systems to extract timely mission critical information.
- Review organizational structure of owner project teams to ensure the best talent is assigned to the most appropriate role(s).
- Review construction contracts from a business perspective to incorporate a sound controls environment. Areas such as audit clause, allowable costs, change orders and field change orders, and project schedule requirements are typically explored depending on the specific client need.
- Implement policies and procedures for a sound financial oversight control system over a project or program.
